I recently bought a 2nd hand ThinkPad x250 with pretty low specs. I want to investigate the possibility to upgrade the screen from the IPS Non-Touch HD to a FHD touchscreen. At many places I read it is not possible because 'the motherboard is different', but I cannot find any motherboard with or without touch support. I suspect that it's not the motherboard itself not supporting the digitizer, but some other part that needs to be replaced or added to the system.
Is it an option to buy a working complete X240 with touchscreen and swap components to move the touchscreen to the X250? I don't want to swap the motherboard itself because then I basically end up with a X240 in a X250 housing with only 8GB Ram support, and I want to upgrade to 16GB.

If the part numbers are the same, you can have a swap from X240 to X250 that was workable too.
Completed set with connector and back cover all together.

Hello. Can someone confirm that the complete assembly will work? I'm in the same boat, and want to update X240 768 IPS non-touch to FHD touch. I contacted that seller, but quick response was that this assembly will not work for my machine without explanation as to why.

I would think that the complete assembly would work fine

The short story, is that there were only two sellers selling "touch" assemblies on ebay. I ordered from one, but few days later got an email that they were out of stock and could not get any more. Tried second seller - with identical result. Third seller popped up later - I send a message to confirm that they had it in stock and they never responded. I ended up getting non-touch 1080p panel. It was very easy swap and it works beautifully. I may try again in the future, but had to give it up for now.
