Re: Thinkpad Carbon X1 touch screen not working

There are several different version of the X1 - some have touch screens some do not. I would suggest adding in the model number to this post (not the serial number) to better help with finding the right driver.

You can get all the available drivers for your X1 Carbon 3rd Generation here:

Re: Thinkpad Carbon X1 touch screen not working

To determine if your system has a touch screen enabled inside of Windows OS right click on the "start button" and choose Open System from the options.

Look for details under "System>Pen and Touch" if you see a message indicating no pen or touch is available it means that the system does not have a touch screen installed.

Look in Device Manager, see if you have any unknown devices or listed devices with yellow or red marks. Right click and choose properties, then use the details tab, drop the box down to "Hardware ID's" and paste the string in a response.

Re: Thinkpad Carbon X1 touch screen not working

I have the same problem, I have over 20 thinkpads did a update and since then the touch screen on all 20 of them have stopped working, I use them for my forklift training company for my students to learn from. Now I am thinking why did I buy them in the first place. I tried to get support but no help yet.

Re: Thinkpad Carbon X1 touch screen not working

I have seen recently on this X forum there have been reports of Touch firmware and BIOS updates causing these problems. Often this requires a hardware replacement - either the system board or the touch screen.

Search this forum for other recent posts regarding this issue. It would seem that if you can upgrade or downgrade the BIOS, that might possibly fix this issue. If the problem is in the Touch firmware, I would hold out less hope for a solution that you could download and install - but that is just a speculation on my part.

Right after the firmware update it stopped working. It says there is a solution. What is it?

Re: Thinkpad Carbon X1 touch screen not working

Exactly the same problem! My 1gen x1 yogo works fine before the recent update. Right after the update, the touch screen was gone!!! Hope lenovo could release a quick fix for it!

Re: Thinkpad Carbon X1 touch screen not working

I also just updated my 1st gen Carbon X1 Yoga (20FR) and all of a sudden the touchscreen and pen no longer work.  Lenovo should pull these updates until they can figure out how to fix things.
