Re: Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2017 Gen5 Touchpad Issue

I've started a service request because I'm still not 100% happy and want to get a replacement rolling before it's too late.

My issue is I will be in 4 countries for work in the next 4-6 weeks, so I have no idea what shipping arrangements will work....and I bought it in Ireland, not where I live.

Re: Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2017 Gen5 Touchpad Issue

I applied the Windows 10 Creators update a few hours ago. I noticed that the trackpad edge detection was turned on again. I decided to leave all as it is. I even reset every mouse setting to defaults, and it has been working perfectly well for hours. I also noticed that there is a very recent Synaptics driver v19.3.4.75 available, as someone mentioned in the forum. I did not apply this update and am still running v19.3.4.71 I will report back in a few days, or when it stops working, whichever happens first. By the way, all Windows 10 gestures work great.

Re: Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2017 Gen5 Touchpad Issue

THAT is not a solution. My last notebook was a Dell XPS 15 and it had several design issues.

They might have a better support, but if parts of your device break every month, it's not convenient either.

Not to mention that this is completely unrelated to the problem.

His message has been removed. Don't engage trolls. It only encourages them.

Re: Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2017 Gen5 Touchpad Issue

Heres what I got back. Looks like I'm out of luck. 6 days is all you get, which contradicts what others are saying here....disappointed.

Thank you for contacting Lenovo.

In order to complete your Service Request, I would like to ask you to
- please be advised the warranty does not provide replacement machines, we only repair them;
- please also be advised the forums are not an official Lenovo support page and no customer received a replacement, unless the machine was in the 6 business days
eligibily period for DOA;
- since you received the machine weeks ago, we can only repair it if it has a hardware failure;
- please update the touchpad driver to the latest version as this is known to solve this issue:
http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/gb/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/THINKPAD-X-SERIES-LAPTOPS/THINKPAD-X...

Please reply with more information/ your results.

You might want to call them and tell that your touchpad is not working correctly

and that you are sure it is a hardware problem.

Re: Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2017 Gen5 Touchpad Issue

One thing I want to know:

Which two letters does your serial number start with?

It's the factory ID.

I had two defective devices with PF-*.

Re: Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2017 Gen5 Touchpad Issue

Maz3max, you can use the Lenovo website to identify your product and serial number:

http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/gb/en/find-product-name

Once there, click on Detect My Product and you will also have the option to Detect My Serial Number.

Re: Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2017 Gen5 Touchpad Issue

Laundoner,

I think Maz3max's point is both his and mine have the S/N PF....and this is the bad batch. It will be interesting to see if others agree.
