Thinkpad X1 Carbon on Windows 10 2017 Ultranav

I started having issues with the ultranav middle button. It works when i start the computer but after a few minutes of scrolling up and down it does not work anymore.  The only way to have it function again is to either restart (which will again only work for a few minutes) or use a bluetooth mouse to uncheck and check the mouse settings for trackpoint which that too will work for a few minutes only. I've updated the bios and updated the driver. Still not stable.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Re: Thinkpad X1 Carbon on Windows 10 2017 Ultranav

When it does freeze, try killing the SynTPEnh.exe, SynTPHelper.exe, SynTPLpr.exe processes in Task Manager and then restarting SynTPEnh.exe in C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP. Does scrolling come back after doing so (even temporarily)?

Re: Thinkpad X1 Carbon on Windows 10 2017 Ultranav

Hi colonelONeill

Thanks for the email. I did the killing of the files from Task Manager and restarted the SynTPEnh.exe as you suggested. It worked temporarily and then stopped again. Normally I would go to the Lenovo mouse settings and unclick and click again the ultranav for a short term fix through the use of a bluetooth mouse. It'll not work again shortly thereafter.

Re: Thinkpad X1 Carbon on Windows 10 2017 Ultranav

Apparently there's a firmware update for this issue:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Thinkpad-X1-Carbon-2017-Gen5-Touchpad-Issue/m...

This is the updater you need:
http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ca/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x...

If your BIOS isn't currently up-to-date you may have to update your BIOS first.
