Using a X1 Thinkpad, with mobile broadband module (Ericsson FG5521gw).
When a SIM is loaded it comes up and tells me 'No SIM card found'.
I've upgraded all the Lenovo software to the latest versions... including Broadband drivers, Access Connections software, etc.
Is this a common problem? It seems to be the case in all industry reviews in Australia for all X1s that were tested.
Is this a known problem? Do we have faulty broadband modules being shipped?
I'll speak to Lenovo support -- just wondering if others are experiencing the same issue?
Solved! Go to Solution.

We have the same issue on german X1s. On mine Lenovo has already changed the mainboard twice and also the WWAN card. No success. Sim is still not being recognized. Seems to be a faulty sim reader on all units. Very sad.
If you get more details from Lenovo on how to fix it i will be glad to hear from you. I am also in permanent contact with them because for me this WWAN feature is essential.

Correction: It's a F5521gw not FG5521gw as first written.
That is disappointing to hear fargox. I've raised a call yesterday but still haven't heard back from support.
Sounds like a recall may be required if it's that widespread.
Integratated Mobile Broadband was one of the major selling points.

Same problems in Sweden.
We have bought two x1 to our office and we have same problem on one of these (No SIM card found) but working with same SIM card on the other one.
We can’t find any HW difference on the chipset or drivers between the booth computers.
On the computer that doesn’t work have we updated all drivers and also with the latest bios but nothing helps, its sounds that Lenovo have a major problem with the mobile chipset / software, I´m hope Lenovo give us a solution ASAP.
We have also reacted on the fan noise on the booth computers, are that something that you have notice?
The fan has a really NOISY whistling noise several hours each day, which haven’t been on earlier models for example x201, T400. This is not ok.
I have a support case on Lenovo and booked a time with the technical on Friday for the fan and the SIM problem, I wondering what he/she can do to help us. I will let you know.

I spoke to IBM today.
They are waiting for Lenovo to 'accept' my warranty.. . seems my purchase is so new it's not on the system. So it's stalled for 3 days so far.
Hoping to hear from them today. Will keep you all updated on the progress made.
