Re: Thinkpad X1 OLED Release date? April?

There are two possible issues. First is the Lenovo aim to use cheapest components (especially displays) available with no other quality requirements. They haven't found so cheap OLED display vendor yet.

Second issue might be related to ThinkPad typical (still ?) 3-yrs warranty. OLED displays have limited lifespan and suffer from permanent image retention (this is different from those low-quality cheap IPS displays where the issue is just temporary and disappears within few minutes/hours).

It seams that WWAN (SIM 4G port) is not available with OLED

The information is conflicting. WWAN and WiGig are explicitly not available with OLED in the US online store:

Yet there are two models with WWAN in the PSREF:

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.
I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Re: Thinkpad X1 OLED Release date? April?

Has anyone actually gotten a 1st gen Yoga OLED Thinkpad?

I've only seen it at the microsoft store downtown in SF.

I ordered it on September 15th @ $2,348.10 thru Amazon Payments.

I receive a delay notice on October 20th:

"We are working hard to get your order shipped soon, and it will ship within the next 30 days. To view your revised estimated ship date, please utlize our online order status tool."

I receive a delay notice on November 15th:

"Due to a supply constraint on the OLED display, we will not be able to fulfill this order until January 2017."

And finally today, November 16th I get a cancelled order from Amazon Payments:
"Unfortunately, we had to cancel your order (details below), as the item(s) you requested is/are not currently available."

If this is consistently happening across all orders, is there something we can do as consumers? I really wanted to believe in the THINKPAD series and wanted to give Lenovo a chance, but so far their business practices are foul. I am an industrial designer by trade and just can't believe a consumer electronics product that is announced on January 2016 is not ready by January 2017. By now it's old.

With all the information on this topic so far, I am inclined to believe that Lenovo had used the OLED feature to push sales and will not follow through with their initial announcement. This is more disappointing than the new Macbook Pros. And now I guess I'll look into the wannabe-macbook Microsoft Surface book.

Looking for more information, I went on to the better business bureau (bbb.org) to find more info on Lenovo:

I guess this is a company not worth giving money to. SOOOOOO disappointed after waiting for so long.

I have one. Ordered in late June as soon as it was available for shipping and received it within 8 days of ordering. There seems to be a big supplier issue with the OLED screens.
