Thinkpad X1 Yoga 1st Gen stuck in reboot loop

2021-02-10, 14:58 PM

For context I was updating all the drivers from off of Lenovo's website because I was occasionally getting BSODs while in tablet mode and I saw somewhere that the problem may be that I don't have the correct drivers installed. After installing them all and then restarting my laptop to finish the install it got stuck in a reboot loop. The farthest it gets through the boot up is to the Lenovo logo where I can press enter to get into the BIOS, then it reboots.

I have tried changing the startup settings in the bios from legacy first to UEFI first. Also tried booting from a USB with Windows 10 on, and then tried with puppy linux as well both got no further. Because of this I have been told by others that it either means my SSD or the motherboard is broken.

Any help is welcome, Thanks.

Hello Nalkiria,

Welcome to Lenovo Community

Can you get into BIOS, try loading the default settings then save and exit.

Also try running diagnostics.

Update us how it goes

You might also try the emergency reset hole on the bottom.  That sometimes knocks some sense into these things.

I have already tried holding that down for 5 seconds.

Thanks for the suggestion though. :)

Loading the default settings in the BIOS did nothing. When I tried to run diagnostics the laptop just rebooted and nothing changed.
