There is an attractive M.2 PCIe NVMe drive on the market from Samsung now and it's 110mm long.
Will it fit in the Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2:nd/2017 ed.?
https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/ssd/enterprise-ssd/MZ1LB3T8HMLA/ - they don't even write here that it's 110mm however vendor https://www.span.com/product/Samsung-SSD-PM983-OEM-MZ1LB3T8HMLA-00007-M-2-22110-NVMe-3-84TB-SSD~6819... points out the form factor.

Physical Dimensions 30.5 x 110 x 4.8 mm
You will probably have to buy a NEW server with XENON processors and removal of a processor to make room to add a pile of the new PM983's.

It won't fit your X1 Yoga.

Hi Richk and others,
A successful installation of a 22110 SSD in the Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2017/2:nd edition has been reported, namely of the 3.84TB Samsung custom order SSD here: https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=128113
Also, sclexman, please note that the Samsung PDF was incorrect - the product dimensions are 110 x 22 x ~3mm.
The installation is based on leaving the screw hole at 80mm empty, placing 1mm thickness thermal padding under and on the SSD which itself fixes the SSD in place and helps protect the installation from vertical-direction physical shock, and then foolproofing the installation with heat-proof polymer thread aka fishing line wired between the SSD's holes and suitable location on the motherboard.
Photo of SSD installation halfway and completed, attached.
