Re: Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd Gen (2017) OLED screen flickering on low brightness

When my OLED panels have gone bad the flickering occured even at power on in the bios screen before any driver was loaded.

Even the replacement Samsung OLED panels fitted by Lenovo will fail. There is a design fault and not resolved with the 20FR. Only the 3rd Gen 20LE has a working panel that doesn't flicker over time.

A software setting fix worked like a charm for me too.

I updated the device and display drivers using the standard system dialog tools -- did not have to delete and install from any special places.

What did the trick for me was just installing the Intel Graphics Command Center from the Microsoft Store, finding the "Panel Self Refresh" setting (System settings with the 4 squares on the left nav bar, then the power tab), and  turning off the self refresh from both on battery and plugged in settings.

Nice to know I don't need to get a new screen.  Sheesh.

Re: Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd Gen (2017) OLED screen flickering on low brightness

I am suffering from the same screen flickering issue for the last 2 years since I bought this laptop - Lenovo X1 Yoga 2nd Generation (year 2017) and have gone for OLED screen replacement for 2 times - first under warranty and second time investing my money and both the times after a system update - either through Lenovo Vantage or via Windows update, screen flickering will return whenever brightness is reduced. Intially it will be tolerable to adjust with the screen brightness but the bar to avoid the flickering will increase and will come to a stage where screen will start to flicker at normal and even during high brightness.

I have reached out to Lenovo service / customer care ample number of times for this issue and all I got is that the Laptop is no more under warranty and I have to replace the screen again!! This is clearly a manufacturing defect where all the users around the globe are suffering with the same issue without any permanent resolution from Lenovo. Feels very disappointed after seeing the sad transition from IBM to Lenovo especially with the coveted 'Thinkpad' brand of IBM and its after sales service.

Hi I have the same problem. Flickering and crashing of my x1 yoga oled screen. How did you replace it? Since it is not only a screen change but also some adapter boards. Do you have some information on that?

@marvin_lee, you need to visit Lenovo service center and they will replace on chargable basis if the machine is still not in warranty. OLED is expensive and I dont think replacement is going to solve the issue either. Better to go for a new laptop instead of wasting money on OLED replacement.

That link brings up a page with a set of 9 drivers from 2016.  Is that what you meant to include here?
