I recently got my new X1 Yoga and had to realize, that it wont wake up after the screen goes dark by pressing the power button. Only pressing a key on the keyboard made it wake up, which is a total pain in the ass in tablet mode, as having to fold it back completely defeats the purpose of having a tablet.
After some investigation I found out, that this only happens when runnning on battery and it seems to be a regression, since it's only not working with BIOS 1.29 and 1.30. I've tried downgrading to 1.12 and it works, still working in 1.27.
Solved! Go to Solution.

I noticed the same problem this week. This loss of function is incredibly short-sighted when in tablet mode. This ability needs to be restored as quickly as possible.
EDIT: I can confirm that downgrading the BIOS to 1.27 brings this function back to working as expected.

I have the same problem, however I can only wake up the Thinkpad when it is plugged in and by pressing the keyboard. The keyboard is repsponsive while in sleep mode (ie. I can turn backlight on/off) but the rest of the computer does not react. The odd thing is that I can't turn it off either by pressing the power button (even for more than 10 seconds).

It seems, that Lenovo released a BIOS update with a possible fix, but for some reason the pulled it out.

It is June and my brand new Thinkpad X1 Yoga 3rd Gen exhibits this very annoying behavior. Having paid so much for this product, I really expect basic operational behavior. Stuff like this gives me a bad case of buyer's remorse... (glances sideways at the Microsoft Surface Book 2 advertisement displayed on other PC).

I believe the fixed BIOS package is available at the Lenovo support page as BIOS version 1.34, have you applied this BIOS package but doesn't solve the issue?
