Re: Thinkpad X1 Yoga Display Problem - blank screen

2017-07-03, 20:38 PM

But when I remove the video driver I get blank screens on my ThinkPad and my HDMI TV screen.

This is becoming a seriously bad problem and lenovo needs to fix this immediately. As it is, we paid a premium price and spent more time fixing it than using it. never again.

Yet another time-wasting and disappointing failure. Lenovo supposed to be top-of-the-line commercial-use machine. I have several computers from years ago that run with no special maintenance. Shameful.

Re: Thinkpad X1 Yoga Display Problem - blank screen

My Thinkpad X1 Yoga has been working great for almost a year. I had this problem, fixed it, never to return. Today on a flight, i did some work, closed the lid, and put my laptop away.

Hours later in the hotel room, blank screen. No backlight, nothing. Finally found i could plug into tv in room, and I see that i have no screen on the laptop. Installed the latest Yoga video driver for my machine

20FRS2KG00
Operating System
Windows 10 (64-bit)
Rebooted and now a backlight on the screen. I am not sure if I should install the old video driver again - that is my next step, but agravating to see this problem appear for no reason.

Should newer drivers work? Frustrating when I cant even get into the bios.

I tried loading recommended driver and now no HDMI or built in display .

New driver gave me backlight but no screen, now I have nothing again?

Does anyone know how to get built in display to work before windows loads? Could I even reset windows?

What about display port? Is that on a different bus from HDMI?

I can't find any easy way to determine if this is a display hardware failure or driver issue . When I did have it working over hdmi, device manager showed the built in HD  panel and Intel adapter. Switching to windows basic adapter and trying.to imstall "working" driver made things worse .

Anyone have any suggestions for determining hardware or software? I am running using display link dock, and the backlight is visible on the laptop screen - but no display via hdmi, displayport or laptop screen.

I would think i could boot into the bios, but that is not working, so i suspect the screen.

Lenovo tells me everyday a part is shipping, but it doesn't ship.
