Thinkpad X270: Battery # 1 won't charge past 53% and Battery #2 won't charge past 3%

2020-02-11, 16:23 PM

I have a Windows 10 Thinkpad X270 20HN, and until last week it was charging fine. This week battery #1 won't charge past 53%, and battery # 2 will not charge at all and has remained at 3%.  I tried to remove the battery, as instructed in Google, after uninstalling the battery drivers in the Device Manager, but it won't budge because the hinges won't move to the "unlock" position.

Adding on: I let the batteries run down and powered up, and still battery # 2 is at 3%, never charging; however, what I really don't understand is the following: the battery icon looks only half full, and on the very top of battery information -- after pressing the icon -- it says 53%, but Battery #1 says 100% and fully charged. How can it say that when the icon is half full and on top it's only 53%. Doesn't make sense.

Can someone help?
