Thinkpad lenovo x61s battery failure

Hello!!
I have had a ThinkPad Lenovo x61s for almost a year now, and although the

battery life has been decreasing sensibly in time, my battery was still working
up to yesterday.
Here is what happened:

I switched it on without plugging it to power and it
wouldn't start, I fist thought the
battery was low so when I started it with the power on it worked
; the battery signal was red and flashing on the computer. The battery
sign on the desktop showed "full at 88% on power, not charging"
and whenever I unplug from power it directly switches off. The battery signal
on the computer is constantly red and flashing.

Please help if anybody has any idea on the failure of my battery and how I

can fix it?

Re: Thinkpad lenovo x61s battery failure

Batteries are warrantied for one year, so run (don't walk) to your nearest Lenovo support center.

Or call Lenovo.

You can look up your exact warranty status on Lenovo's website.

Hello!! Thank you very much for your post.I still have a warantee up to 2010-09-18, but do you mean it doesn't apply to the battery?

Re: Thinkpad lenovo x61s battery failure

Yes, the battery warranty is one year.

That's normal for today's battery technologies.
