Thinkpad x201 recognises new ram in BIOS but gets stuck at windows 7 boot logo

2020-07-31, 19:38 PM

I got 2x4GB ram sticks for my laptop. They are 1333Mhz, SODIMM, DDR3. Slapped them into my laptop but windows doesn't boot. It shows the "Starting windows" text and then gets stuck. The BIOS can recognise that its 8GB. I did a BIOS reset by removing the CMOS battery but that didnt work. I put the old ram sticks back and they work. Why my new ram sticks aren't working? When i try formatting the hard drive with windows 10, i can see the windows 10 boot logo. After it loads, it shows a bluescreen in the windows 10 style with the sad face. It says something about hardware error. I tried using A SINGLE memory stick at a time but that didn't work too
