Thunderbolt 3 Gen 2 Workstation Dock USB issues

Has anyone seen any issues with the new Thunderbolt 3 Gen 2 Workstation Dock 40ANY230US and using the USB ports? Specifically what happens is when a user undocks and goes to a meeting and comes back, redocks and then they see USB not recognized or malfunctioned errors. They then have to restart in order to get the USB functionality back. Then as soon as they undock and redock it happens again. 

 

So far I have almost been able to track it down to having a Jabra headset dongle plugged into the dock when this happens.  Wondering if anyone has experienced this or has a fix?

I had this problem, but with a HP Thunderbolt dock.

 

The problem went away after I did a firmware update of the docking station that came out recently in August this year.

 

Thunderbolt is awesome technology, but it seems rather half-baked to me...

I agree! Great technology but still not there yet. I have tried the updated Thunderbolt Software and Firmware, but still have same issues. I have not seen any firmware update on the new model 40ANY230us yet, so hopefully Lenovo can give me an update on this.

Note that the manual states: "After setting up the dock, the audio connector on the dock is enabled and the one on the computer is disabled by default" and you need to manually switch default Playback device in Windows.

So i have the x1 Extreme Gen 2. Which dock model number should i be looking for ?? Is there only one dock that will be compatible ? im so confused lol.

You’ve got the right dock. EEnsure you’re using latest firmware on laptop and dock, and latest Intel Thunderbolt software. If that’s all good, then blame Lenovo and Intel.

After more investigation on user complaints, it has been narrowed down to all of them using the Jabra dongle for the headset. Now the questions of who will fix this? Lenovo or Jabra? Will they work together to get a solution to this? We have update all Jabra and Lenovo drivers and firmware.

Documenting my own experience - my Dell U2718Q connected to dock HDMI port intermittently blanks (monitor displays shows lost connection). No such issue when connected to laptop’s HDMI port.

DisplayPort is somewhat better - no sporadic blanking - but prone to not being detected.

After latest dock firmware, 3.1.65. I cannot use wireless mouse dongle connected to one USB port of the monitor.

Overall, this dock has reliability issues. Assume YMMV.

I have a HP Elite Thunderbolt 3 dock and the firmware update unfortunately did not solve this issue.
