Thunderbolt Dock Issues

We have a mix of 6th gen and 7th gen X1 Carbons and after the windows 20H2 update. Some of the laptops will not connect back up to the internet after being re connected to a Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 gen 1 or gen 2 dock. It will say its connected but will have no internet access. The issue does not happen all the time and sometimes a unplug and replug of the thunderbolt cable will fix the issue.

Kindly provide both computer's machine type model / MTM (ex. 81C70000RK) from the sticker as it would help us detail more about your machine variant.

Please include the model type of the Thunderbolt docking station.

 

By the way, are the drivers, BIOS and firmware up to date? Same as what the support site offers?
Besides unplug-reconnecting the Thunderbolt cable, have you tried any other troubleshooting steps?
Update us how it goes

We have a variety of computers and docks its happening on, the Carbon X1 20KH and 20R1. As for the docks, its a mix between 40AC and 40AN. We have updated the thunderbolt software/firmware and the dock software/firmware.

You may reach out with the Lenovo tech team for your company to have this reported each with which machine is failing and which dock.
It would be a challenge to isolate the issue on each and this is not something that is happening on every laptop and dock model so we cannot assume it as a generalized issue specially if this is not an OEM Preload.
