Turn fingerprint use on/off easily

2011-01-12, 17:10 PM

X201s

Windows 7

Fingerprint logon works (usually) well for me, but ... I want to have the following:

1. When traveling - logon requires fingerprint or password.

2. When home - automatic logon without security.

Is there a quick and easy way to turn security on and off?

From what I see, it requires deletion and re-registration of fingerprints and Windows password each time I change from one to the other.  I'd be delighted to be wrong.

in control panel there should be thinkvantage fingerprint software.  open it.  choose settings.  uncheck "use fingerprint scan instead of password."

the password is a different story.  you either have to use the fingerprint or the password, or like you said delete the password. at least you don't have to re-enroll fingerprints.

Thanks.  This does work (I could swear in the past I had to re-register fingerprints), except that on reinstating the Windows password, you have to separately recreate the Lenovo logon password - took me a couple of restarts to get it all working.
