Just want to be helpful by saying I came across this thread when searching for a solution for the exact problem and I would like to put the solution on record here for the benefit of those who are suffering from the same problem.
As of now, Lenovo's driver update is still offering the buggy version 18.104.22.168, but you can download version 22.214.171.124 from Lenovo's support webpage. Version 126.96.36.199 appears to work, at least I can now control the cursor with the touchpad.
Hope this helps.

Have you tried the driver suggested by constantspin to upgrade the driver to 188.8.131.52 ?
Also before you update, do remove the old drivers in the C:\Drivers folder.
Where does one find the 184.108.40.206? The version on the driver update site is 16.2.14
