Hello everyone,

i have been having BSOD's for quite a long time now. The crashes occur regardless of the USB ports being used or not.

I would appreciate your help.

Here is some info:

On Wed 27.09.2017 13:55:06 your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\092717-7753-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: usbport.sys (USBPORT+0x2D8C1)
Bugcheck code: 0xFE (0x6, 0xFFFFFA8006E63220, 0x48766544, 0x0)
Error: BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\usbport.sys
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: USB 1.1 & 2.0 Port Driver
Bug check description: This indicates that an error has occurred in a Universal Serial Bus (USB) driver.
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time.

This is what can be seen under Device Manager

This pops up when trying to update the driver

I believe i had tried in the past to shut off the ports to see which one was problematic but the trouble continued (it's been a while and i can't remember anymore)
Would you have any suggestions?

Many thanks,

There are lots of USB devices, whether anything is plugged into a port, such as the keyboard, touchpad, trackpoint, camera, microphone.  Try them one at a time and see if they are all working.

Richk, the bsod happens almost everyday regardless of any device being plugged into the USB ports or not. The only device that i use regularly at the office is an ethernet to USB converter but as I said when the ports are not in use the laptop still gets a bsod.

the USB ports work fine otherwise and I can plug in any device and it works. The bsod happens randomly and not when some device is plugged in or out.
