USB-C dock (gen 2) not detected (Type 40AN)

I have been using a 40AN USB-C/Thunderbolt gen 2 dock for about a year for my X1 5th gen at work. Used to work great. 

However, when I try to set it up for my home office, the laptop will not detect it. When I connect the cable to the dock, the laptops starts charging and the lights on the mouse and monitors flash once, and then nothing more happens. 

When I try to update the dock firmware, the installer aborts, saying the dock can not be detected/is not connected. 

I've tried the 8 second push on the power button, and reinstalling a lot of drivers, to no avail. 

Tips? Or is the dock dead?

I suggest that you update the BIOS to the latest version from the support site.
