USB-C travel power adapter for X1 Carbon?

I bought a Lenovo travel power adaptor with slim tip for my X260, which plugs straight into the mains ie there is only one cable from the adaptor to the laptop and means I don't have the power brick on the floor/desk.

Does anyone know if Lenovo has/will produce one of these for the Carbon X1 5th gen ie with a USB-C tip? (I need one for the UK)

Thanks for that Prabhansh. It says the adapter is for the X1 Tablet, but presumably it will also for okay for the Carbon X1?

Just check this, it was listed under X1 Carbon 5th Gen accessories. So it should work fine IMO.

Cheers,

Prabhansh

Re: USB-C travel power adapter for X1 Carbon?

Interesting - I hadn't seen that adaptor before.

I think the key issue with those all-in-one power supplies is how much clearance below the socket you need. I had a 2016 MacBook Pro which has a similar arrangement (they don't include a power cable any more, just one that snaps into the power supply) and it fouled against the desk unit at a hotel I was staying in.

If you do buy one I'd be interested to hear how much clearance you need beneath the base of a UK mains socket as it's hard to tell from the photo (possibly not that much).

Re: USB-C travel power adapter for X1 Carbon?

I've had the same problem at a Doubletree hotel I frequently stay at ie not enough space between the socket and the desk (though in some rooms there is). I'm assuming the USB-C version will be a similar size to the slim tip one ie 9cm long and roughly 5.5cm below the plug.

It's a very neat little adapter but did cost quite a lot for what it is (c £45).

Re: USB-C travel power adapter for X1 Carbon?

Ah - that's probably even deeper than the Mac one (see attachment), though the USB-C one is possibly about the same. You'd think at this price point someone would come up with a pivot on the mains pins - I think 90 degrees adjustment (certainly +/- 90) would suffice in most cases. Alternatively where the adaptor has a standard 2 or 3 pin connector it maybe better to make up a custom 10cm mains lead.

Re: USB-C travel power adapter for X1 Carbon?

The other thing we might find is a good quality third party travel USB-C charger too, perhaps combined with a power bank. I'd prefer to use something from Lenovo, but other reputable brands might be worth considering.

http://amzn.eu/2i3esxk

I wonder if this would do the job (though doesn't plug straight into the socket)?
