Hello meirlivneh,

Welcome to Lenovo Community

Kindly go to BIOS, load the default settings, then save and exit.
Next step is to update the USB-C Thunderbolt 3 firmware
Observe the machine and update us how it goes

Regards,

Have you read the README txt file?

There are some requirements that you need to have before proceeding with the installation.

Re:USB-c not working on X1 Carbon gen 5

This is a complete mess.
It starts with run detect1911 "in this package", well of course it was not included in the package.
Had to do a search for it, found it eventually on the t480 related problem.
Downloaded and run it.
got the 0x20B SDK_NO_CONTROLLERS error message.
Went to search help for this one, landed on a page asking me to install the Thunderbolt driver, installed it for the 6th time.
and this point I really lost track of what I'm doing, wandering between the very confusing messages on this site is not a recipe for a coherent solution.
they should come up with a complete coherent and automated solution

You may reach out to the technical support team in your region for other options than what is currently offered through the support site.

They would be able to offer further investigation about the possible points of failure for your machine.

Thank you for getting back to me.
The tech support team on the Lenovo facebook page already deemed it a hardware problem.
I guess this is also the reason why my Bluetooth sopped working...

I think it's an Intel f..k-up. I expected Lenovo to be more pro-active, alas they are washing their hands off, leaving me dead in the water.
Well it's only an "old" gen 5 machine after all.
I've been a loyal Lenovo user from day 1. Never used any other laptop, and never experienced something similar.
never understood the Apple fanboys, now, however, I do understand their loyalty. This would have never happened with a mac.
I guess the mac M1 is my next machine...

I'm sorry if it didn't meet your expectations.

You may also consider the OEM full image:

Full OEM image do have the intended certified version of drivers and operating image working as expected.
If technical support did manage to decide it as hardware issue then they would have a working ticket case for you that the team can work on.
