Unable to adjust brightness on x1 extreme 2nd gen

2019-12-01, 21:20 PM

I just purchased the 2nd gen x1 extreme (20QV00C5US) (i9 and 4k oled touchscreen) and the brightness is stuck at 100%. When adjusting through the the keyboard function, the brightness bar adjusts but the brightness is always at 100%. This would happen on the Intel & Nvidia gpu's with the power connected. I reinstalled windows and the drivers with no luck.

If anyone has a fix for this would be appriciated.

Try to update the BIOS to 1.27.

I don't have this issue. I just updated the fix for 2nd monitor lagging. Also, I have never had missing keystrokes issue.

You have OLED too.

Take a look here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1E2-Intel-Graphics-Driver-update-brightness-adjustment-doesn-t/m-p/4588717

They released a fixed driver, you can download it from here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P1-Gen2-brightness-control-not-working/m-p/4598199#M85292

I downloaded it, installed and my brightness adjust works now. The file is almost 200mb so it takes a while to download.

EDIT. Before installing, if you have been using Discrete graphics from BIOS, you might need to change back to Hybrid graphics in BIOS otherwise the installation might not work.
