Unable to boot from USB - X1 Carbon (Gen 5)

2017-11-09, 0:37 AM

The correct USB device is displayed as a boot option, but when I select it, the screen goes blank for a brief second and then comes right back to the 'choose boot device' menu.

I also double-checked the BIOS to make sure it wasn't in the exclusion list. It is not excluded.

I have used this same exact USB on other machines and have been able to boot to the live OS from it just fine. For whatever reason it won't boot on my Carbon X1.

Any ideas on how I might resolve this? thanks in advance!

Hi

Has the USB formatted correctly for UEFI boot?

Use a tool like Rufus, select the ISO first and change the partition scheme to GPT for UEFI.
