Done!

it was Fingerprint. fingerprint socket was unplugged. after i re-plugged the socket windows recognized biometric device. then i installed thinkpad fingerprint driver 6.0, all worked fine. there is no unknown usb device anymore.

regards,

Re: Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)

I had the same issue with a brand new Yoga 520-14IKB - in the Device Manager there was just 'Unknown USB Device (Descriptor Request Failed)'. It turned out I had to dissassemble laptop, unscrew the battery and under it there was a cable marked 'FP' (as in FingerPrint). After I carefully replugged the cable and put plactic holders in place (and assembled everything back together), Windows recognized Biometric Device and installed Synaptics WBDI driver.

I spent a few days, before I figured out that this 'Unknown USB Device' must be a Fingerprint Reader and your post helped me to try my luck with dissasembling the laptop and re-plugging the FP cable, so thanks for your help! It works fine now : )

Cheers!
