Unusably slow when running with battery

2020-04-07, 7:58 AM

My "X1 Extreme 1st Gen" is basically unusable whenever it is not plugged into an outlet. It will even easily be outperformed by my 10 year old computer. For this price it is an absolute joke. I mean, some examples:

  • Resizing a folder-window in windows lags
  • Watching a video on youtube lags (this should NEVER happen, not even when on battery-save mode)
  • Compiling my code takes at least twice as long as when on power supply
  • Even opening my E-Mail-Client and single E-Mails sometimes takes ages
  • When doing a video-call (for example in google hangouts) the laptop is at full capacity and I can do almost nothing while the call lasts

I noticed, that the laptop will never use active-cooling when on battery. Is it really impossible to get the same performance in battery-mode than when plugged into AC? What is it worth to save some battery when I can not work?

I already set all the convoluted energy settings to max performance:

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't believe this is so complicated. :( :(

Thank you.
