Upgrade HD TN to FHD IPS for X250 (Windows 7). Advice needed

I have X250 (Windows 7) with HD TN (non IPS) display and would ike to upgrade it to FHD IPS.

Please advice me if it worth to do as I dodn't  have expiriene of using FHD resolution on 12,5'' screen size.

How text is readable?

How text is sharp? in comparison to HD TN that I have at this moment.

Will I loose warranty if I replace te screen in local PC repair service?

Thank you for your time and  advice.

Re: Upgrade HD TN to FHD IPS for X250 (Windows 7). Advice needed

Hello,

I'm not a Lenovo employee, so cannot answer some of your questions exactly, but let me try to answer as a fellow X250 user who went from an HD IPS (1366×768) to FHD IPS (1920×1080) panel about nine hours ago. Smiley Happy

  1. When the display panel was switched out, the display scaling changed from 100% to 125%.  Plenty of applications handle the new scaling just fine, but some of older ones looked blurry as a result of how fonts are scaled up in them.  Switching to 100% display scaling solved this and the apps now display crisp, if somewhat small, text.
  2. Text is much sharper on the FHD display than the HD display, which is sort of expected given the new screen has nearly twice as many pixels as the old one.  Both screens I had were IPS, though, so I cannot make a direct comparison between TN and IPS.
  3. I would suggest getting the screen installed by a Lenovo authorized service center.  According to this page, the contact information for Lenovo Ireland Sales and Customer Support is+353(01) 6535 568, and hours are from Monday - Friday 9am - 5.30pm GMT

One thing I've noticed is that the new screen seems a lot brighter than the old one.  Again, not sure how this compares with TN versus IPS screens, but just something to be aware of.

Thank you for reply. Could you tell which application had blurry text please? Does text with 125% scaling look the same size as befo scaling on hd display or smaller?
Thanks )

Hello,

The blurry text was in some older internal-use programs developed by my employer.

With 125% scaling, normal Windows text appeared slightly larger to me, but only slightly.  It was definitely more crisp, though, as a result of accurately using all those additional pixels.

Re: Upgrade HD TN to FHD IPS for X250 (Windows 7). Advice needed

Hi,

I need your advice here, i am using a x250 with ips hd screen and decided to upgrade to FHD and  ordered the display from Lenovo and when technician changed the display and after that there was kind of NO DISPLAY on screen like it's so dim that you can't able to see it, but if you look very closely then you'll see very very dark display. External monitor is showing display. Now after this tech arranged for LCD Display cable and changed that but again the issue was same. Now they decided that might be MB is faulty and ordered for a MB. Now I am waiting for it to arrive. Meanwhile i just want to know what is the issues.

All driveres are updated.
