Upgrade M.2 SSD for ThinkPad X1 Yoga 20FR

2020-01-07, 13:33 PM

Hi all,

I want to upgrade my SSD drive on a ThinkPad X1 Yoga 20FRS25R0T to 1TB.

I've browsed around and find the Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND M.2 Type 2280 Internal SSD - CT1000MX500SSD4.

Any of you have a better insight of this one and if it is compatible with the laptop? Or if you have any better sugestion on the same price range.

This is mainly to use with Microsoft Excel, Power BI and R studio.

Thank you for your help.

Hi !

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums.

According to the product specification of your ThinkPad X1 Yoga, some variation of this model comes with 1TB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe Opal2. You may visit our support website to see more details about the part and check the availability from the shopping website.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Hi Van_Lenovo,

Thank you for your reply.

After some analysis I have decided to take the risk and I have Installed a M.2 WD Blue SN550 NVMe SSD 1TB. (I needed more space not a gamming rig speed spec)

It works very well no issues at all, and in the overall it increased even more the overall speed. A good machine turned into a even better one!

I've done a clean WIn 10 Install (from an USB ISO, created with Windows 10 installation media) + all Lenovo drivers (using Lenovo driver tool) + Office Pro 2019 in less that 30 minutes.

It boots in less than 10 seconds from shutdown to login.

I couldn't be more happy with the decision.

This helped me too
