Upgrade SSD to larger size for X1 Carbon Type 3443-CTO

Can someone advise where I can buy a larger SSD for my X1 Carbon (Type 3443-CTO).  Not sure which generation of X1 this is.

Currently have only 128GB.  Would like to have 1TB.

I am also open to swapping the WWAN to free up the socket if that is a possibility.

largest ssd for the X1 carbon gen 1 is 256 gigs. The wwan slot can't accept a mSATA (I tried).

Jin,

1) I presume my X1 is a gen 1 based on Type 3443-CTO?

2) Can you give me the part number for the 256GB and/or link to where I can buy this?

3) Do you know if this adapter will fit my 3443-CTO laptop?

I haven't tried it myself and so can't really say anything about whether it is compatible or not. But one person has reported it working, so i guess it is worthwhile to give it a try.

Re: Upgrade SSD to larger size for X1 Carbon Type 3443-CTO

After searching everywhere, I was able to finally upgrade my x1c gen1 (3443CTO) SSD with the following:

512gb SSD: Transcend 512 GB SATA III MTS600 60 mm M.2 SSD (TS512GMTS600)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KLTPWJE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00

With an SSD adapter (internal connection = nonstd) Flashmen® M.2 NGFF SSD to 26 Pin Adapter for Lenovo X1 Carbon Ultrabook http://www.amazon.com/Flashmen%C2%AE-Adapter-Lenovo-Carbon-Ultrabook/dp/B014LZ2FYS/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_d...

Best part about this adapt vs the SinTech is that it's shorter and fits without any hot glue.

In fact, the factory screw mount works directly with the Flashmen adapter (albeit slightly off alignment)

While that's the case, it's been working great for last 3mos.

I also upgraded my system to Win10 (clean install) and everything works great... better than ever before (ie. BIOS recognized everything w/o a problem)

Simple install... unscrew the sm screws on the back... pop the keyboard top off & swap.

I'm really interested in performing the same upgrade. Was there enough clearance below the keyboard for it to fit back on cleanly?

It's tight, but yes, it totally fits!

(I'm typing to you on the upgraded Carbon)

Awesome! I would've thought there would have to be a lump or something .This changes everything. I love my Gen 1, I feel the extra key travel makes all the difference and for some reason the Trackpoint didn't feel right on the Gen 3.

Don't have to replace it now Smiley Happy

Re: Upgrade SSD to larger size for X1 Carbon Type 3443-CTO

Thanks for the info.  I need to upgrade my SSD capacity as well, but need to clone the drive. Cannot start over from scratch without a lot of work.  Seems like that is possible with the more current SSD drives (buy a cable, the software to clone comes with the drive).

Has anyone successfully performed that from their type 3443 with these parts?

Thanks in advance...
