Upgrade x300 Samsung MCCOE64G5MPP-OVA 64GB SSD to Samsung MMDOE28G5MPP-OVA 128GB SSD

So I've done a little homework and have decided to purchase the new Samsung 128GB SSD and upgrade the 64GB SSD currently on my x300.  I want to image the existing hard drive and copy it in totality to the new hard drive via either Rescue and Recovery or Windows Vista Complete PC Backup (preferably the latter), then swap the drives to restore as I run a ton of application software and it takes me days to get everything installed and configured.

With R&R I can't get that pig to run either under Windows or at boot from theThinkVantage button, always getting "Unable to copy file" error messages with "Access is denied." Windows Vista Complete PC Backup blows chunks with "Windows could not find backup devices on your computer.  The following information might explain why this problem occurred:  Catastrophic failure (0x80000FFFF) Please close the backup application and try again."

I have an external Western Digital 750GB My Book USB with plenty of space and have successfully created an R&R startup disc.  If things get ugly I'm begrudgingly okay with re-installing all my apps (Office, Rational Application Developer, MS Visual Studio, SQL Server, etc., etc., etc.), but I'd rather not if I dont' have to and I DON'T want to lose the OEM install of Vista on the HD as I do not have my own media for that, though I do have a copy of the SWTOOLS directory off the root of the SSD for everything else, plus all my application software.

Any advice appreciated, but I'm thinking I'm going to have to acquire some other backup and restore software and run the new SSD off an enclosure to image the drive before I swap the old one out.

You want to image the thing right??? Use Acronis to image your harddrive... also you may want to burn yourself a copy of the recovery media. Then transfer the image into the new SSD harddrive.

the samsung MMDOE28G5MPP-0VA is a 2.5" SATA drive and will not physically fit inside the X300.   you need to find a 1.8" micro-SATA drive instead.

I am talking about SSD 128GB, x300 comes with 64GB, did anyone upgrade to SSD to 128GB? please let me know if it's supported?

Thanks

my reply above was to the person who started the thread.

the X300 supports any 1.8" SSDs as long as they physically fit and use the micro-SATA interface.
