Upgrading the WiFi on X1C6

2018-11-23, 22:01 PM

My new X1C should be arrving soon, and I want to know if it is possible to upgrade the wireless card or if there is still a whitelist. I am looking to put in the Intel 9560 for BT 5 support. Are there any issues with this? The new P1 and X1 models seem to come with it standard.

Also, this is my first new computer in about 5 years. Is it still a good idea to wipe the OS and install from scratch?

I do not know if the 9560 will work this laptop, since that requires the CNVi protocol to be supported.

As for the OS, the usual Thinkpad isn't encumbered with too much junk. Just beware Windows takes a long time after the "initial login" to actually finish setting up (a lot of Windows apps - mail, video player, calculator, etc are updated through the "Microsoft Store" now).
