Version miismatch error msg

Computer: Lenovo X1 Touch OS Win 8 Despite having run Control Panel | Lenovo - Update and Drivers, I get following error msg displayed via the Taskbar in the Desktop mode (as opposed to Tile Mode): Version Conflict Warning Version mismatch. Please update Lenovo Settings and Location Awareness to the latest versions. What am I doing wrong? thanks

Have already been there and done that. Problem persists. Remaining to try is to uninstall Lenovo Metro apps. Will update with results. thanks

Why is this forum stripping out CRLFs on me? Does not make me a happy camper! -------------------------------------- Uninstalled the Lenovo "Metro" app for Settings and problem is gone. This is a Lenovo-generated problem. Thanks

Hey there justcurious,

 

When I resolved this problem on one our machines, I uninstalled the Lenovo Settings Dependency Package and the Lenovo Metro App, restarted, and installed both of them directly from the driver matrix page. Additionally, I ran the system update to grab anything I missed. Not sure if you have tried this method, but it may be worth a go.

still don't understand why I should need to go to a "drivers' matrix page" with great frequency to keep my system current. What am I missing here that I don't get either auto-updates and/or notification thereof? Do you know what I'm doing wrong? -----------------------------------------Also, does anyone know why CRLFs are being stripped out of my messages? ----------------------------- thanks

The system update tool is a fantastic way to get regular updates. In my experience, when dealing with specific error messages/issues I like to pull what I know I need to look at directly. You will get notification, but you will need to go in and run the system update(or configure it too).

 

I am not entirely sure what is going on with your CRLF, have you by chance gone in and checked your forum settings?

 

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I went to the Metro Shop App(the green tile with the white shopping bag) and updated all my apps, including the Lenovo Settings app.

system update is not updated frequently enough. I know my experiences with Lenovo updates. Incidentally, I've been using computers for truly decades, have designed software and hardware. System updates did not fix this problem nor another problem I had. The answers were provided here and System Update did not solve either problem. .

My immediate technical problems ( a few minor remain) have been solved, thanks to the forum.-------------------- ------------------------------- Now tell me how do I stop your forum from removing my CRLFs please. I feel like I'm working in the pre-bulletin board days. thanks

Are you typing your responses in the Rich Text or HTML pane of the Compose screen?

I believe that should be working correctly, but doesn't seem so for you.

 

One last thing...

Please click My Settings (upper left), select the Preferences tab and make sure that Use the Rich Text Editor tab by default is ticked.

Yes. Setting correct.

Use Firefox and NoScript.  I just enabled Lithium.com temporarily and will see if that fixed the problem.
