Re: Voluntary Recall Lenovo X1 Carbon 5th Generation

Mine was disassembled and reassembled due to another failure just last week, I assume if there was an "unfastened" screw, it would have been fastened/removed in the process.

It would help if someone can advise where the suspected screw should be, as this would be something one can check for himself...

Re: Voluntary Recall Lenovo X1 Carbon 5th Generation

If you are an owner of an X1 Carbon 5th Generation  ThinkPad please visit the website, https://support.lenovo.com/X1C_5GEN_RECALL, to check whether or not you system is one of those affected.  If it is affected please stop using it, as advised, and follow the advice and instructions in the document to have your system inspected; most importantly, see Q10 of the document, the battery requires inspection for damage and replacing if necessary.

Re: Voluntary Recall Lenovo X1 Carbon 5th Generation

I'm trying to follow up on this. Sitting on the chat line now waiting for an agent. I tried calling the support line, as the email instructions told me to do. I give my machine type (20HR), and then just get disconnected. I'm guessing they are totally overwhlelmed with this recall already. Yet, I'm expected to stop using my computer until they can schedule something, which I can't even start to do. Awesome.

Re: Voluntary Recall Lenovo X1 Carbon 5th Generation

Wow. I got a faster response on here than calling or using Chat. That's interesting. The Chat bot just pings me every 3 minutes that it's trying to locate an agent. I finally got through to the support queue, so I'm going on 22 minutes on hold so far. I only have 934 days left on my extended warranty. I hope it's enough!

Re: Voluntary Recall Lenovo X1 Carbon 5th Generation

I have to take back my complaint. I got through to support, and the agent will follow up with an on-site repair for me. That's good. It worked out in the end. Just some initial frustration with the first disconnects. If it happens to you, keep calling back and eventually you get put in the phone queue where the real wait begins.

What if my laptop is affected but there's no service provider within 50 miles of my home address?
