WWAN Fibocom L850GL, L860GL and 5G modules under Linux

2021-02-07, 14:01 PM

Hi everyone,

I am considering to eventually replace my current T480s with an X1 extreme and/or an X1 nano.

However, I'd need a working WWAN module both under Windows and Linux.

So. How's actual support for any of the M.2 modules mentioned in the title under Linux? Has anyone had success in getting them to work in a usable manner, especially after wakeup?

I have googled a lot, there is exactly nothing about the 5G module in the nano, some tricks to get the Fibocom modules to switch to USB mode and an opensource driver for the L850GL still in beta and not much about if it actually works.

I'd be very grateful about any experiences regarding the matter, and if nothing works yet, your post that you actually care about Linux WWAN support, maybe Lenovo starts listening then after all!
