I consedering buying a THINKPAD X1 CARBON (GEN 7), the Fibocom L850-GL 4G LTE CAT9 is included in the price, I guess it is used to acces 4G network with a SIM card exactly like a smartphone.
But in this case what is the use of the wwan option ? As far as I understand it is also used to acces cellular network ?
What is the difference ?
Please feel free to explain if I got this wrong

Hi axel321, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
The Fibocom L850-GL and WWAN option are one and the same thing.

I just looked at the option in the Lenovo France store. It doesn't explain itself very well. When you add WWAN, it automatically adds the L850-GL.

I think Lenovo 2019 models are supposed to use both L860-GL(cat16) and L850-GL(cat9). You can see both WWAN cards are listed in Lenovo parts catalog(01AX792, and 01AX796), probably this is the reason why the webpage is design in such a way.
But Intel dropped the cellular business all of a sudden, which makes the future of L860-GL very much unclear. That's why all current models are only shipped with L850-GL card, and the webpage options show redundancy.
