What can I do to reinstall the original WIN10 for X1C?

2017-06-02, 7:44 AM

Hi everyone

Thank you very much for reading this.I am not native speaker, so if there is anything I didn't make clear please just ask:)

There was something wrong with my pervious version of Win10, so I install the win10 which I downloaded  from Microsoft

But the win10 I intsalled didn't work well, it didn't match this laptop, so I want to install back to the original version Win10 for this laptop.

Sadly, I cannot use restore point, since it has been for a while.

And I bought this laptop in US, but right now I am not in U.S., I've asked the lenovo official here, they said they don't have the original Win10 for my laptop here...

Does anybody know what can I do to install back my original Win10? Thanks so much.

You might be able to buy the appropriate recovery disks from Lenovo, but that further requires an optical drive.

The Windows 10 you downloaded from Microsoft should work okay, though you might want to use System Update to install the appropriate ThinkPad specific drivers and tools:

As a ThinkPad owner, you should be eligible to request a USB Recovery Drive from Lenovo Support - for free.

Try to find the "request a USB Recovery Drive" page on the support site. I don't have a direct link unfortunately.

And no, since it is a USB drive, you won't need an external optical drive.

Edit: I found the link for you. http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/tr/en/lenovorecovery

Agree with the above and want to add that what they do is send you a link to download the recovery. You then use your own USB stick to burn the image to..

I did it last wek and it worked great.. The download is rather large so make sure you have some free time and I believe it recommened at 16GB USB stick as a minimum...

Well, they shipped me a USB drive ready to be used. No downloads or whatsoever.

Cool! I have plenty of USB's available so it didn't bother me any.. I was not given the option to get one sent and it was a digital download only. Here is a snip of the email I got:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Information on Digital Download Orders

  • Digital Download orders requires the following:
    • Free space to download of 10-15 GB recovery files to your computer.
    • One-hour to several hours based on internet connection.
    • 16GB USB key (or larger) for creating the Lenovo USB Recovery Key.
    • Your Lenovo ID is used for the Lenovo Digital Download Tool.
  • Lenovo recommends 20 Mbps or higher internet connection.
  • If a digital download order has not started within 72 hours (3 days), the digital download order expires, and a new digital download order must be submitted .
  • When a digital download order has started, it will remain active until the digital download has completed.

I believe - as far as I can recall - I had an option to choose either to download or to be sent.

Interesting they have not given you the same options. Policies might have been changed since I requested the USB stick. It was about 5 months ago.

As you said, it works either way :)

Cheers.
