Re: What graphics performance to expect from i7 X220?

@sates

For i7 you will need to run WEI with 90W power adapter. 65W adapter will have throttling problem result in lower WEI score.

My i7 X220 has a 65 watt adapter.  I get CPU and GPU throttling in longer test runs (10-20 minutes) as observed in OCCT and Winfo side-by-side

My Win Experience Index:

7.1

7.5    8 GB RAM)

6.2

6.2

7.6    Lenovo (Samsung) 128GB SSD

Hey GatorBob,

If you also get the throttling problem, then how do you succeed to get such high graphics WEI scores? I also have i& with 8 GB Ram and I et 5.0.

Those of you that have the 90W, what part# are you using? I want to get a 90W adapter so I can actually play some games, but I'm not sure which one to get.

Re: What graphics performance to expect from i7 X220?

Hi,

Here mine:

Processor:                 7.1

Memory (RAM):         7.4

Graphics:                    5.9

Gaming graphics:     6.4

Primary hard disk:   7.6 (SSD)

I get the same result with the BIOS 1.19 with my 65 watts and my 90 watts adapter. So I guess they have fixed the problem. So don't waste your money on a 90 watts adapter (mine came with the docking). With the BIOS 1.17 my graphic was at 5.1 with the 65 watts.

When I max out my CPU, temp goes up to 96C, I think it's pretty hot. 65C at idle.

It's dangerous to generalize from a single data point --

1.19 hasn't fixed the problem for me, as noted in my earlier post in this thread.

But it's true that a 90W heat way less... So probably better.

I will let my 90W on my docking and I will use my 65 Watts when I'm on the move.

My 90W serials:

P/N: 92P1109

FRU P/N: 93P5026

PA-1900-17I

I hope it helps.

I read on the forum that some got their laptop with the BIOS 1.20, it is available? I only see the 1.19
