What is the Max Monitor Size X120e Can Drive?

I think the subject says it all.  I will receive my X120e in a few days.  In the mean time I am *considering* purchasing a monitor to use at the house with the X120e.  Any recommendations?  I am not a gamer, I am more of a programmer, grad student, etc..., so I have little need for high update rates and all that.  I just want something cheap and BIG.  Because the laptop is mobile, rather than fiddling with a VGA cable, I am strongly considering using a HDMI cable.

Thanks,

Steve.

Via VGA, up to 2048x1536.
Via HDMI, up to 1920x1080.

The VGA port on the X100e, and presumably, also the X120e, has no screw sockets either.

Its not so much the size, but the resolution, such as what ColonelONeil mentioned.

Re: What is the Max Monitor Size X120e Can Drive?

Understood and thanks!

Another question, (asking largely out of ignorance), HDMI vs. VGA:  why would I choose one over the other?  I can get a decent VGA for ~$115 and an HDMI monitor for ~$215.  I am open to opinions...

Thanks!

Steve.

Re: What is the Max Monitor Size X120e Can Drive?

Stick to a monitor with HDMI capability (or DVI via HDMI adapter) rather than VGA.

VGA is analog, a standard that's older than 20 years. HDMI (DVI) is digital, which works perfectly with modern LCD screens.

Re: What is the Max Monitor Size X120e Can Drive?

You'd get better quality with HDMI. VGA is more common though, but is being phased out. You also sometimes have to tell the monitor to auto-detect clock and phase with VGA, otherwise you get fuzzy or jittery text.
