Which WWAN card do I need in a 3rd gen carbon x1?

2016-05-17, 21:10 PM

I bought a Sierra EM7355 card for my 3rd gen Thinkpad x1 - according to http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:X1_Carbon_(3rd_Gen)

but it doesn't work when I plug it in (won't boot up). Which card do I need? Is it the EM7345?

Hello, genealogyxie

You are right, only Sierra em7345 (LTE/3g) and Ericsson n5321 (3g) wwan modems are compatible with x1c gen3. Note, they must have Lenovo FRU p/n, 04X6014 and 04W3842, respectively.

em7355 (Gobi 5000) isn't in the compatibility list.

x220 • Gobi 2000 3g | hdd, msata ssd, wwan, wifi, gps -- unique hand-made config
ThinkPad 25 Special Anniversary Edition. #Retro. Signed by D.Hill
T470p | X1 Carbon Gen3 | Miix 2 10" | Yoga Tablet 2-1050F (Android) + BT Keyboard
ThinkPad Stack • 2.4/5 Wireless Router, HDD 1 TB, BT Speaker, Power Bank, Mobile Projector

Do it well, worse becomes itself
