WiFi Disconnects on Thinkpad X1 Extreme

2019-01-26, 0:31 AM

WiFi has been randomly dropping on my new X1 Extreme, leaving only ethernet. The only thing that brings it back that I've found is reinstalling the driver and rebooting.

Troubleshooting says it's a driver or hardware issue:

And here's what hardware manager says:

The last couple of versions of the Intel driver have included fixes for dropped connection conditions. They have not propagated through Lenovo updates yet, but you can try the latest, at your risk, here. Tell us what you find!

No joy, unfortunately. Get a "This Software Package Cannot Be Installed On Your System error for the latest version (20.110.0.3 -- I have
20.70.0.5).

You're downloading the Win 10 driver-only zip file, unzipping, and running DPInst64? I've done this with an 8265 and a 9260 without issue, but don't have a 9560 around here.

Ah, no. I used Intel's auto-detect feature. Did it that way and the install worked. So far, no major errors, but still early. I'll post an update if anything goes awry.

Thank you!

I have the 6/25/2018 (20.70.0.5) wifi drivers for my X1 Extreme's Intel 9560 card and have not encountered any issues so far with dropped connections.
