I have an X220 and while back when Windows 7 was around 4GB sticks were already very expensive. Today 8GB sticks are readily avialable.
So Intel says the chipset does support 16GB so can I install a pair of 8GB sticks in my X220 and be able to perk up performance?
My rig has an i5-2520M CPU and I am using x64 Windows so I can leverage more memory
The BIOS is UEFI so I can use a larger capacity SSD too

Yes, there is an earlier discussion at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X220-ram-upgrade/td-p/1105897 which talks about some of the memory module brands and specifications people used to upgrade their X220s to 16GB.

I see Crucial as the consumer brand for Micron which is a respectable memory maker.
I wonder if Kingston or G.Skill etc will work as well? Lots of DDR3 SO-DIMM choices today.
