Dear community member:
Recently, I encountered Windows blue screen problem "STOP: 0x0000007B" as attachment for my IBM X40 notebook with Windows XP home. Actually, this case was happened after installed Lenovo ThinkVantage system update 3.16 http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS013489 .
I also consulted Microsoft Taiwan customer support, they thought that it should be driver issue. Is there any way to resume my Windows XP as usual without system partition formatting (i.e. IBM system recovery tool)?
Note: CHKDSK /F actiion also did without any problem being found.
Thanks for your help in advance,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that you are getting Windows blue screen "STOP: 0x0000007B".
"STOP: 0x0000007B"indicates a mis-match between BIOS and the hard drive controller driver. Check bios for AHCI status.
Press F1 at post to get into BIOS. In BIOS, go to Config -> Serial ATA. Change from AHCI to Compatible or vice versa and then boot.

Thanks for your kindly help. Actually, my X40 is using BIOS v2.08 (1UETD3WW), and there is no 'Serial ATA' option under Config. Please refer to attached BIOS Config screen. Would you have further advice?
