Re: X-1 Yoga Gen 2 Battery Life

2017-10-03, 19:55 PM

Just got this laptop with i7-7600, 16GB, 500GB SSD and IPS screen from my employer and I'm super bummed that battery life is so bad (running 2h 40min now and at 37% starting from 100%, 4. cycle). Changed over from a Dell E7470 which had a battery life from 7 - 9 hours performing the same tasks. I have a clean Win 10 install.

I get around 3 hours with just Word and Outlook. If I make the screen very dark, I get about 5 hours. Never had more that that....

Betreff: X-1 Yoga Gen 2 Battery Life

2017-10-09, 7:33 AM

It's the same with my NON-OLED X1 Yoga 2gen - only 3 hour battery life which is definitly a wrong advertising from Lenovo.

Can anyone from Lenovo at LEAST react to this thread!

Have a look at this trustworthy review. The X1 Yoga 2nd energy consumption is far higher than its competitior's.
Lenovo can't you fix that with a software update?

@Lenovo: Is there at least any option in replacing the battery pack with a higher capacity one?

We all need to understand that Lenovo doesn't care at all about us customers. They will not help, we already bought the laptop, they have our money. It's like selling a car promising zero to 60 in 5 seconds and then it takes 10......

I hope you are not right with your assumption!

By the way - Lenovo replaced my battery pack but nothing changed so it doesn't seem to be the battery pack at all. Possibly a design flaw in general?

Re: X-1 Yoga Gen 2 Battery Life

My TP is the OLED model with 16GB RAM and 1TB SDD.

I saw widely fluctuating battery life estimates on my machine as well, some time in the 8-9 hr ballpark, and then at other times 2 hrs with 50% battery available

I had noticed earlier that Google Drive/Googl Backup & Sync used to eat up lots of CPU cycles (same on my 2 other much older lenovo machines), even though I had no data being synced.

I uninstalled it, plus stopped Google Music Manager from running as well. I killed the new utorrent web client as well (which was also idling).

My battery life estmates at (suggested/Auto brightness) have gone back to almost 8-9 hrs.

I think Win10 needs to do a better job at enforcing power management processes for all applications whether from the web or through the Windws Store. I absolve Lenovo from the blame for this - for now!
