Re: X Series Laptops Shipping discussion (2012)

This is what I received yesterday from Lenovo Web Sales:

Dear James,

Thank you for contacting Lenovo, the maker of the products for those who Do. Further to your query, There is an unexpected shipment delay of your  order due to a part constraint that we are waiting for supply. We  apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We are  currently working to fulfill your order and we will continue to provide  you with updates as they become available. Your order will ship no  later than the week of September 16th. Thank you for your time and  patience in this matter, and feel free to contact us with any additional  questions or concerns.

This was in response to my request to cancel the order, not inquire about its status. This was the FIRST contact I received about the delays...

Lenovo: For Those Who Do... Except those who can't because we still haven't shipped their laptop to them, Hell we didn't even notify them, unless they acutally did something to contact us first.

Re: X Series Laptops Shipping discussion (2012)

According to the website, the shipping date for my X1C was pulled in from 9/17 and 9/10.  I called to see if I could pay extra shipping to get it as soon as possible after 9/10.  Instead, I was told that the new date on the website was wrong and it won't ship until 9/17 anyway.  And she didn't sound too confident in that.

These people are clueless.  I miss the good old days when this was such a pleasurable company to do business with...

Re: X Series Laptops Shipping discussion (2012)

Well, the 9/6 shipping date of my X1C ordered on 8/15 has come and gone.  Website still says 9/6.

I had my fingers crossed and everything.

I mailed Lenovo asking if they could ship it without that dongle.

Re: X Series Laptops Shipping discussion (2012)

Just ordered a customised X131 (I couldn't justify paying an extra €40 for pre built X131e). Hope it's not too long; I love getting new toys.

As to the reported shortage of the ethernet dongles, mine shipped and I received it in August.  Anyone want to trade a dongle for a computer?

Re: X Series Laptops Shipping discussion (2012)

Just want to update for anyone searching in the future. I ordered my X131 on friday, and today (tuesday morning) the product has been shipped. Due to arrive in the next week. I had customised the RAM and the HDD, so pretty standard replacements.

Re: X Series Laptops Shipping discussion (2012)

X1 Carbon ordered on 8/16 still "In Production" since last Friday. Kind of hope it ships before next week, since otherwise that would have been a month! If it doesn't ship by 9-16, I'm canceling, and I'll order one from Amazon or Newegg when they get them in. Lenovo, you really have let us down.

Re: X Series Laptops Shipping discussion (2012)

My X1 Carbon ordered August 15 is not shipping till September 19.

The delay is not due to the USB  Ethernet dongle.  I asked Lenovo to ship the laptop without it.  Lenovo replied that the delay is due to "an internal part".

They told me that the dongle WAS an internal part.  The people on the 800-number are clueless.
