What a pain! The Sierra Wireless EM7345 is so unusable (Windows 8.1 / 10); Deutsche Telekom SIM. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't. Using deal-in tools help sometimes but not always. Called Lenovo; they sent me an replacement (ericsson) ... with not LTE / 4G. Come on Lenovo ... the internet is full of issues with this real worst Sierra Wireless EM7345 module. Fix it!

For some reason Lenovo publishes only the latest EM7345 driver on the X250 driver page.
This driver installs the 1.2 (1415.07) Worldwide dated 2014-Jun-5 firmware automatically.
As an option you can install the 1.2 (1415.09) Worldwide dated 2014-Oct-22 included in the download.
The EM7345 works as expected with no flaws running the 09 firmware.
DO NOT INSTALL THE VERIZON FIRMWARE

From where I'm at both the X1 Carbon 3rd Gen 20BS and X250 support pages point to the same EM7345 download:

Per the readme's, it looks like the ThinkPad T450, T450s, and L450 drivers for the EM7345 are on a separate fork. I have no idea why that is, but I would be cautious of them on the X1 Carbon 3rd Gen 20BS, or vice versa.
