X1 5th Gen keyboard issue

2021-04-04, 22:14 PM

Hi

I have X1 5th gen.

Suddenly 8 keys of the keyboard stopped working.

All on one row. The Q W E R U I O P stopped working . The T and Y continue working.

All other keys are working .

I have uninstalled drivers , restarted several time.

Any other ideas on the soft side?

Is it a hardware issue? 8 keys only affected.

How can I be sure that's aHW issue.

Thanks for helping

Docles

Hello docles,

Welcome to Lenovo Community

Did you made any changes before the problem occurred?

I suggest that you update the drivers and BIOS thru the support site.
Also under BIOS, load the default settings, then save before exiting.

Update us how it goes

Regards,

Hi Lorenzo

Thanks for your reply and trying to help me.

Well, really nothing happened, no shock.
The 8 keys seems to work fine (from a mechanical stand point), but nothing happens while typing.

All drivers and bios were updated before problem occured, through Lenovo Vantage and checked also directly through lenovo site with the bridge function.

I did the Bios default setup.

Nothing changed,

Docles

Sorry for the late response.

Kindly try clean boot, then test the keys.

Dear customer,

System BIOS has diagnostic tool to test keyboard, I recommend you to perform that diagnostic tool by following below steps.

1. Boot to Windows once, then select restrt

2. Press F10 key immediately when Lenovo logo displayed, Diagnostics tool will run under UEFI environment.

3. Choose KEYBOARD

4. Choose Key test

5. Check for Q W E R U I O P keys

If those key don't work, please contact Lenovo Service to repair.
