I suggest you contact "thnkhckpd". He should give you a brand new x1c6, or at least loan you his lawyer for free.

Lenovo Germany (not support) called me today: "Under no circumstances you will receive a replacement device"...

So it' the 7th repair and they want to continue repairing it. Lenovo is a joke, I have never experienced such bad service!

Man, I would love to sue Lenovo... First that was not what I intended to do, but now... The problem is, I dont know if its worth the effort and the finacial risk, as a student. Its a tuff decision to make.

Hello,

An interesting conversation and history which, having read through, leaves me toying with a thought. After component replacement, regardless of which associated with the fingerprint reader or other security component, I personally would reset / clear all BIOS and Windows security settings and rebuild them from ground upwards including any associated passwords and other security measures. This would include BIOS fingerprint and TPM along with Bitlocker if used before reinstalling an OS, i.e. start with a clean sheet. As there has been no mention of this I thought I would mention it as a potential thought for avoiding difficulties.

@dbao You know what? That's the first good and productive idea from you despite trolling around. Heads off! What an effort.

So @Butterfliege: I'm offering my help here. We will find a way to get in personal contact.

Sadly @dbao will not have a chance to post his absolutely valuable comments furthermore (3 strikes > dbao out). What a pity!

Quick update.

There is no solution for this problem. Accroding to Lenovo my problme with the fp-reader is "normal behaviour" even tough this problem occurred only after 25 months of use. "After the device was in sleep it takes up to 60 seconds to load all the drivers, in the meanwhile fp-reader might not work till the driver is loaded". No comment on that.
