X1 Carbon 2015 turning off Fn Lock LED

2015-08-15, 22:21 PM

Hi,

is there a way to turn of the Fn Lock LED on the X1 Carbon?

I am using the function keys all the time (as obviously most people do :P) - and the little green light somehow annoys me ... ;)

Cheers

Vince

In the X1 Yoga BIOS (essentially the same hardware as the X1 Carbon Gen 4), there is an option in Config > Keyboard/Mouse entitled "F1-F12 as Primary Function". This does what you want - if you set this option to Enabled, the function keys become the primary function (FnLk off) and you need to press the Fn key or enable FnLk for the volume and similar functions.

By X1 Carbon 2015, I guess you mean Gen 3. It's worth checking to see whether the same function exists on your BIOS.

Sorry for bumping this thread up - is there any way to programatically turn off the green FnLk LED?

Good day.

Not that I've ever seen or read about. Sorry.

Regards.

Thank you - I guess it would require some very basic hardware based hack then ... shame that there is no BIOS option to make either function keys or fn functions the default - that would ease the pain ... ;)
