X1 Carbon 2017 (5th gen) - How to disable the red LED on the Thinkpad logo on the laptop cover?

2018-04-07, 21:43 PM

On the cover of my laptop (opposite side of my screen) there's a Thinkpad logo where the dot of the "i" is red lit. I wish to disable this when my laptop is on. It draws unwanted attention. How do I do this?

Good day and welcome to the community.

As a setting somewhere, no way I know of or have heard of. I would also not recommend opening the screen/lid to look for an electrical disconnect.

If the light is truly that objectional, the best way may be to carefully cut a small piece of black electrical to cover the light. No danger of breaking anything, and easily reversed.

Regards.
