X1 Carbon (2nd Gen) won't start

Hi

Out of the blue, it won't start.

The power button just flash green once (3 times if power cable is hooked up), then the keyboard light up momentarily, followed by the adaptive bar. The fan just blew a whisp of air out the vent. After that, nothing happen.

i tried the following but nothing works:

1. using a pin and holding the hard reset button at the bottom.

2. Opening up the bottom cover and disconnecting the internal power cable to the battery.

Unfortunately, it's out of warranty and bringing back to Lenovo here for diagnostics and repair will cost a bomb.

Any help here will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: X1 Carbon (2nd Gen) won't start

After disconnecting the internal battery, I would also remove the plug-in cards (wireless, SSD, WWAN - if you have one).  I would then disconnect the CMOS battery and press the power button a couple of times to drain the capacitors.  I would then reconnect the CMOS battery and try to plug it in with the internal battery disconnected and the add-on cards removed.

OK, I'd managed to remove the CMOS battery, and tried the above steps. It's still won't start.

What should I do next?
